Barbara Markway, Ph.D., has joined the medical staff of St. Mary’s Health Psychology in Jefferson City as a health psychologist.

Dr. Markway brings more than 20 years of experience in psychology, including work as a published author of four popular self-help books and a national speaker on anxiety, marriage and parenting.

Her book, Dying of Embarrassment, was recently ranked second by a research study published in Professional Psychology: Research and Practice in how useful and scientifically grounded self-help books are for anxiety, depression and trauma. Dr. Markway has been featured on The Today Show, Good Morning America, The New York Times, The Washington Post and Real Simple magazine.

She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at St. Louis University Medical Center and completed her master’s and doctorate degrees at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She received her undergraduate degree from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Ind.
